AP Music Theory - So Cal Conservatory of Music

Music theory is a skill that is developed slowly and methodically. To be successful in these courses, students are expected to practice aural and written theory concepts and turn in all homework assignments. Homework is consistently checked for accuracy and not just completion. In addition, students will be expected to sing all the time. Singing is a crucial component of AP Music Theory and will be tested on the AP Music Theory Exam.

AP Music Theory and AP Music Theory Prep are multi-year courses that meet once a month for two hours. Class times will consist of sight-singing, ear-training, melodic and harmonic dictation practice, and written work. Tutoring will be available between classes to those who need it.
